Adnan Yunus paints images of people and places, and images drawn from his scientific background, with an emphasis on the traditional craft of painting.
Yunus grew up in Lahore, Pakistan. In the 1970’s, he joined a four year apprenticeship at the leading art school in Pakistan. After initial success as an artist, he trained for a career in medicine. In the 1990’s he returned to his first love of painting. He joined a group of like minded artists in Lahore and exhibited, in group and solo shows. In 2010 he moved to New York and has lived and exhibited here since.
Yunus was trained in the classical tradition of drawing, painting and printmaking. He believes in achieving excellence in the craft, so he places an emphasis on the scientific understanding of light, color temperature and its relationship with the mood of the painting.
